I recently took a family member to the doctor because of blood in her urine. She had two doctor visits, an ultrasound scan to the bladder for cysts and cancer, a culture, a urinalysis, investigation for protein in the urine, and something else I forget. She then had an antibiotic shot and we took home a 14-day supply of antibiotics. The doctor called me three days later to discuss the culture. Our total cost was $175. I told the doctor that Cocoa was like a new dog. A few days later, when I had coffee with my retired doctor group, I asked what they thought the identical tests would cost for me in the hospital - $4000. Maybe more they said. Think about this discrepancy. Much of the cost for me would involve different departments and different technicians. And perhaps a high overhead. Jerry Bylander, Managing Director, USToo! Texoma |

We plan to continue our telephone tree to help get the word out. We will ask those who want us to continue meeting, to take some names and call before the next meeting. Please send us names and phone numbers of interested men. As always the group does not recommend any particular treatment, therapy, physician, or hospital. US TOO Sherman is a prostate cancer group formed for the purpose of sharing information, education, and mutual support. |

Speaker:
Dr. Alex Ehsan, Medical Oncologist, Texas
Oncology-Sherman Dr. Alex Ehsan, Medical Oncologist with Texas Oncology-Sherman, gave an extremely interesting talk focused on three important points: 1) What have you got? 2) Before you decide on a treatment, find the correct status of your disease, and 3) After these questions are answered, then you can set the treatment. After the talk Dr. Ehsan fielded several questions from the USToo! Texoma group. |
