The Director's Column

Our new meeting place:
The Bella Fontana Pat Nuckols Meeting Room has proven to be an excellent room for our meetings.  It also has the advantage that is doesn't have the negative connotations that a hospital facility does as well as answer the problem of where to meet with Wilson N. Jones Health Center disposal of the facility.

Our November meeting will answer requests from a number of you to learn more about nutrition and specialized cancer diets.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much is known about prostate cancer diets and how well informed our members are.

See you at the November meeting.  Jerry Bylander

Last Meeting
Date & Time: Tuesday Evening, September 20, 2005, 7:00 PM
Place: Bella Fontana Spa
Attendance: Approximately 9 attendees

Title: "What do I need to know about the latest and greatest treatments for prostate cancer and how can I find them?"

Speaker: Don Riedl, retired Proctor and Gamble manager and long time prostate cancer survivor.
Talk:  Don is just back from the “National Conference on Prostate Cancer 2005” held in Washington, D.C.  You will learn what the leading prostate cancer practitioners answer when they ask themselves, “Can all forms of prostate cancer be cured?”  Since it is important to know how to find help, Don will describe the talks given by leading practitioners and their relative availability.  You will also learn how to ask your own doctor about these new therapies.  You will also find out what an oncologist general practitioner is and how he can help you approach a cure for your own cancer if you should so choose, and how to use this advice with your own doctor to achieve a cure.  When and why should you choose such a specialist for your prostate cancer first, and what can they tell you about the latest treatments for CaP (all stages)?   (What is a stage?).

The meeting adjourned about 9:30 PM.

Henri has suggested an interesting website:

Here is a link to a German scientist who has a good test for systemic cancer so as to not put a man through therapies that cannot succeed.
